| First Day
Priest: “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24) O revered Curé of Ars, nothing came easy for you in your quest for the priesthood, but you knew that to suffer was to suffer with Christ on Calvary, and so, if walking in the footsteps of our Lord meant taking up His cross, you lovingly bent to the task. You lived by the motto that life was loving while suffering, and suffering in order to love. You were undaunted, O good and faithful servant of the Lord, and your strong faith brought you closer to Jesus every day of your life. O Saint John Vianney, you are the patron of all Priests, Religious, and seminarians. You know that each of us must trust in the Lord with our whole heart and if we are to serve Christ we too must take up our cross and follow Him even when it means following Him to Calvary. By your prayers gain for us hearts full of courage and strength. Intercede for us before the Lord that we may love and serve one another as you so willingly did for the pilgrims of your ministry. Pray that we may do the will of God and be His hands and voice to all His people. together we pray the Novena Prayer — O holy Curé of Ars, St. John Vianney, here on earth you loved God and faithfully served Him by serving His people as their Priest. Daily you prayed for your people, you did penance on their behalf, you preached the Gospel by word and example. Ask God on our behalf to send workers into His vineyard, and especially to raise up among us a new generation of ardent and faithful Priests to feed us with the Bread of Life and strengthen us by the forgiveness of our sins. Remember the vulnerabilities, fears, and anxieties that surround us and intercede for us in all our needs, especially….(here mention your own personal request). O Priest of Ars, pray for us in a special way during this novena, we ask through Christ our Lord. Amen

Primer día
Sacerdote: «Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz y sígame». (Mateo 16, 24) Oh venerado Cura de Ars, nada te resultó fácil en tu camino hacia el sacerdocio, pero sabías que sufrir era sufrir con Cristo en el Calvario; por eso, si seguir los pasos de nuestro Señor significaba cargar con su cruz, te entregaste a esa tarea con amor. Viviste bajo la máxima de que la vida consistía en amar mientras se sufre, y en sufrir para amar. No te arredraste ante nada, oh buen y fiel servidor del Señor, y tu fe firme te acercaba a Jesús cada día de tu vida. Oh San Juan Vianney, eres el patrono de todos los sacerdotes, religiosos y seminaristas. Sabes que cada uno de nosotros debe confiar en el Señor con todo su corazón y que, si hemos de servir a Cristo, también debemos tomar nuestra cruz y seguirle, incluso cuando ello implique seguirle hasta el Calvario. Obtén para nosotros, mediante tus oraciones, corazones llenos de valentía y fortaleza. Intercede por nosotros ante el Señor para que nos amemos y sirvamos mutuamente, tal como tú lo hiciste con tanta generosidad con los peregrinos de tu ministerio. Ruega para que cumplamos la voluntad de Dios y seamos sus manos y su voz para todo su pueblo. Rezamos juntos la oración de la novena: Oh santo Cura de Ars, San Juan Vianney: aquí en la tierra amaste a Dios y le serviste fielmente atendiendo a su pueblo como sacerdote. A diario rezabas por tu gente, hacías penitencia en su nombre y predicabas el Evangelio con la palabra y el ejemplo. Pide a Dios, en nuestro nombre, que envíe obreros a su viña y que, especialmente, suscite entre nosotros una nueva generación de sacerdotes fervorosos y fieles que nos alimenten con el Pan de Vida y nos fortalezcan mediante el perdón de nuestros pecados. Ten presentes las vulnerabilidades, los temores y las angustias que nos rodean e intercede por nosotros en todas nuestras necesidades, especialmente… (mencione aquí su petición personal). Oh Sacerdote de Ars, ruega por nosotros de manera especial durante esta novena; te lo pedimos por Cristo nuestro Señor. Amén.
