| Eighth Day
Priest: “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled; but whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” (Matthew 23:12) O revered Curé of Ars, yours was a life of humbleness. You wore an old cassock, you ate meager meals. You counseled your pilgrims to remain humble, to remain simple, and the more one is so the more good he will do. You taught that before the throne of God we are one of His creatures made to glorify God and praise Him in all things. Your simplicity of soul and your uncluttered way of life have given us a role model to lead us to sanctity. O Saint John Vianney, at those times that I forget that I am totally dependent on God for everything, plead my case to allow me to see that without my Creator nothing is possible and that I must rely on Him for everything. Obtain for me the gift of a humble heart. Let me be the servant of God’s people wherever I find them. together we pray the Novena Prayer — O holy Curé of Ars, St. John Vianney, here on earth you loved God and faithfully served Him by serving His people as their Priest. Daily you prayed for your people, you did penance on their behalf, you preached the Gospel by word and example. Ask God on our behalf to send workers into His vineyard, and especially to raise up among us a new generation of ardent and faithful Priests to feed us with the Bread of Life and strengthen us by the forgiveness of our sins. Remember the vulnerabilities, fears, and anxieties that surround us and intercede for us in all our needs, especially….(here mention your own personal request). O Priest of Ars, pray for us in a special way during this novena, we ask through Christ our Lord. Amen

Octavo día
Sacerdote: «Quien se enaltece será humillado, y quien se humilla será enaltecido» (Mateo 23:12). Oh, venerado Cura de Ars, tu vida fue de humildad. Vestías una vieja sotana y comías con sencillez. Aconsejabas a tus peregrinos que permanecieran humildes y sencillos, pues cuanto más humildes son, más bien hacen. Enseñabas que ante el trono de Dios somos una de sus criaturas, creadas para glorificarlo y alabarlo en todo. Tu sencillez de alma y tu vida austera nos han dado un ejemplo que nos guía hacia la santidad. Oh, San Juan Vianney, en esos momentos en que olvido que dependo totalmente de Dios para todo, intercede por mí para que comprenda que sin mi Creador nada es posible y que debo confiar en Él para todo. Concédeme el don de un corazón humilde. Permíteme servir al pueblo de Dios dondequiera que lo encuentre. Juntos rezamos la Novena: Oh santo Cura de Ars, San Juan Vianney, aquí en la tierra amaste a Dios y le serviste fielmente como sacerdote de su pueblo. Diariamente orabas por tu pueblo, hacías penitencia por ellos y predicabas el Evangelio con la palabra y el ejemplo. Pide a Dios, por nosotros, que envíe obreros a su viña y, especialmente, que suscite entre nosotros una nueva generación de sacerdotes fervientes y fieles que nos alimenten con el Pan de Vida y nos fortalezcan con el perdón de nuestros pecados. Recuerda las vulnerabilidades, los temores y las ansiedades que nos rodean e intercede por nosotros en todas nuestras necesidades, especialmente… (menciona aquí tu petición personal).
